I’ve had multiple negative experiences with this veterinary, both involving the same person. My dog is turning seven years old this year. I have been bringing him to this veterinarian since he was nine weeks old. This past year I went through a divorce and a change of addresses. I did not follow up with the yearly visit at the vet because of life events. Things finally settled down and then they speed back up again. The other week my dog wasn’t feeling well and I go to call for an appointment at his vet. I was told by this secretary that he has never been to that vet before and I would need to bring in physical proof. I told her that it has been about a year since we’ve been there so maybe we dropped out of the system. She told me they didn’t wipe their systems, and that I must be mistaken. I’m in desperate need for help with my dog so I agreed to a new patient appointment to get my dog checked out. Thankfully, everything with my pup was all right and that was that. A few weeks later I noticed my dog scratching at his ears aggressively. I go to check them out and they look pretty agitated. I called the vet to get advice. The same secretary cut me off very quickly and told me that I just need to make an appointment. So I do so. In the meantime, I end up having an accident and breaking my collarbone. The night before his appointment, I set an alarm three hours beforehand so I know I can get up, take a shower, make sure I don’t smell from laying in bed and recuperating and that I can get him into the car without hurting my shoulder any further. It ends up taking a little bit longer than the allotted time that I thought would’ve been appropriate so I called the vet to let them know Illl be a little late. Not even halfway through my first sentence the secretary cut me off and told me that I needed to reschedule for the next day. I understand that veterinarians are on a tight schedule, but I didn’t think waiting 10 minutes would have really cut into their day. What the secretary asked me to do was wait another day, go through the pain of getting a larger dog ready all over again, for what? Ten minutes? So rude. Zero empathy. I get people “have days”, but this is a pattern, both times felt aggressive and agitated. Maybe they need to find a profession that meets their level of stress? Or maybe their management needs a little update. I WAS a customer of 7 years, and will now be going else where because of a secretary’s lack of empathy.

We’ve been taking our dogs to Akron Peninsula since 1992. No matter it’s regular checkups, an emergency, scheduled surgery or concerns that could be addressed by a phone call, Dr, McFadden and Dr. Jahnke , and Dr. Mann, before he retired, have been the most caring, knowledgeable and compassionate people to work with. The staff is equally attentive. We can’t imagine any better veterinary care.
